Communicating With Other Players

Being able to communicate with both your team and other players in the game is a huge part of the Netrek experience. If you are unable to communicate, you will not be considered part of the team and it will be hard to receive support. In the picture below you can see your message windows, dashboard, and player list. In the new version of Netrek, version XP 2006, the message windows and player list are swapped but the functionality is still the same. There are also two possible message keys in the new version. It depends which options you choose when installing the client. If you choose the Netrek XP 2006 Default, your message key will be 'j'. If you choose the Netrek Default keymap your message key will be 'm'. A link to the controls you chose are also in your Netrek program group. Hit the 'j' or 'm' key to send a message. Type 'A' to send to the all window, 'T' send to your team, and the player letter or number to send a personal tell.

IGNORING PLAYERS

Unfortunately there are no language filters in Netrek and there might be times when you need to ignore another player. To do this, send the text

:ita

to the person you wish to ignore. This will ignore that player in your individual, team, and all message windows, a.k.a. ita. Don't forget to put the : in front of it.
